Storm Keating has vowed to pick up her one-year-old daughter ‘soon’ after leaving hospital following emergency spinal surgery.

The 39-year-old, who is married to Boyzone star Ronan Keating, was rushed to hospital last month with severe back pain.

She was released a week later just in time to be home to celebrate her daughter’s first birthday.

Now Storm has given a positive update on her recovery and says she is on the way to healing enough to be able to lift Coco up for a cuddle.

On Instagram the mum-of-two shared a sweet video of herself sitting in a park with Coco and three-year-old son Cooper. She gently pokes Cooper’s stomach as her daughter wanders in for a hug.

She wrote: ‘My babies ♥️ 10 days post surgery and I am doing great.

‘One day soon I’ll be able to lift her up and into my arms again… the lord himself knows that every little piece of my heart and soul can’t wait!’

Storm described her medical emergency as ‘the most frightening week of my life’ having been diagnosed with cauda equina syndrome.

Cauda equina syndrome is a rare and severe type of spinal stenosis where all of the nerves in the lower back suddenly become severely compressed.

Symptoms include sciatica, severe numbness or weakness in the legs or around the genitals or anus, and issues with urinating.

If untreated, it can lead to permanent paralysis and incontinence.

The Australian designer wrote: ‘On Saturday I was rushed in with what we already knew was a very bad prolapsed disc, which had more recently escalated to the point where it needed surgical intervention.

‘Whilst stabilising in hospital however, this then escalated to Cauda Equina Compression/ Syndrome which required emergency spinal surgery to avoid permanent damage. If it wasn’t for Dr Aftab and his acute diligence, care, attentiveness and skills, I would not be walking out of this hospital with the prospects of leading the normal life I had always envisioned I would.’
