Lionel Richie has a discography of albums and singles that are second to none. His music is part of the fabric of pop music; in fact, Richie is one of only two songwriters in history to achieve the honour of having number one records for nine consecutive years.

Richie has sold more than 100 million albums worldwide and is an Oscar, a Golden Globe, and four-time Grammy Awards winner. Richie was a judge on ABC’s American Idol and has returned to the chair for the 2019 season.

What does Wonder say about the show?

The musician said: “We’re living in a time where there’s so much is going on in the world. But the one thing that we know for sure that we can celebrate is life, love and music. I’m very thankful that you all have been so wonderful to me, giving me your life and allowing me to share my music with you since I was 11 years old, which was just a little ago. So, we’re just going to play and have fun.”

James King, the Senior Vice President of AEG Presents, added: “There are headliners, great headliners, line ups, stellar lineups and a thousand other adjectives we use but we will never find the one that correctly describes what will be happening in Hyde Park on Saturday 6 July. Stevie Wonder is singing his biggest hits for his very own Song Party and for good measure, and to our mutual amazement, joy and wonder, he is also bringing his good friend Lionel Richie.”

Who else is going to be performing at British Summer Time 2019?

Wonder and Richie will be joining the rest of the stellar line up for the al fresco musical season. Already announced for the gigs are Barbra Streisand, Florence & The Machine, Robbie Williams and Celine Dion.
