Steph McGovern: BBC Breakfast star addresses pregnancy diet 'Not the healthiest'

Steph McGovern, 37, clad her blossoming baby bump in a leopard print blouse, black jeans and a leather jacket when she visited Boston College to celebrate people studying for vocational qualifications ahead of results day this week. Sharing the pictures with her 366,000 Twitter followers, the BBC Breakfast reporter thanked the college for having her, saying they did 15 hits across BBC News’ TV and radio outlets during the day. However, she seemed slightly distracted as she went on to admit to indulging in several delicious treats during the course of the day. “And in other news…. I ate three panna cotta deserts made by the fab @cityandguilds catering students during the broadcasts,”(sic) she tweeted.

“Not the healthiest breakfast for a pregnant woman… but definitely the most delicious!” Steph added of her pregnancy diet.

She later corrected her spelling error, joking: “And clearly I have lost the ability to spell! I mean desserts!

“Although I wonder what a panna cotta desert would take like,” the pregnant BBC Breakfast favourite mused.

Steph’s fans took to the comments section to share their thoughts on the idea of a desert comprised of the Italian pudding, one writing: “I’d visit a panna cotta desert.

“Also you can get away with a lot of things when you’re pregnant so make the most of it,” they added supportively.

Another said they thought the panna cotta desert would taste “yummy”, while a third chimed in: “Very dry but on the plus side, it would be absolutely massive.”

Steph, who confirmed her pregnancy last month, is a vocal advocator for vocational qualifications, having recently revealed she previously took a year to gain work experience as a trainee engineer at Black & Decker, which incorporated part-time study at college.

She tweeted: “Wouldn’t be where I am without it.”

Steph is expecting her first child with her partner, whose name is not known.

She keeps her relationship private, but her girlfriend is thought to be a TV executive.

Elsewhere, BBC Breakfast’s Steph McGovern sought health advice as she admitted to “overdoing it” this week.

Telling her Twitter followers she had woken up with a “big red lump” on her forehead, she said: “I’ve no idea where it came from or what it is.

“Any suggestions?” she asks. “It’s red, but not itchy. Bite? Allergy? Brain giving up on me and leaving my body?”

She later shared a picture of her face, saying she now had makeup covered the lump.

“I have the exact same thing,” one fan replied. “Nothing to worry about.

“Stress related, in my case. They came and go,”(sic) they added.

“Ah really?!” Steph replied. “I did overdo it with work yesterday, so you could be right.”

BBC Breakfast airs daily at 6am on BBC One.
