Stacey Dooley: ‘Don’t give a f*** what they think’ Kevin Clifton’s partner on colleagues

Stacey Dooley revealed that she’s “had it all” from snobbish people she’s worked with, before revealing how she deals with it. The Strictly Come Dancing winner said she knows she is not universally liked as she discussed that fact she “doesn’t give a f**k” what people think. The 32-year-old spoke out in a new interview with The Guardian, saying how peoples perspectives have changed over the years. “I’m not vanilla,” she commented. “At the start of my career, some people were like: ‘This is a breath of fresh air’; others: ‘There are thousands of trained journalists that deserve her job.’”

Stacey continued: “Middle-class journalists might not be able to connect with a girl who lives in Queens [in New York] and has been abused by her father in the same way that I can.”

When asked what the worst thing that’s been said to her, she replied: “Oh God, I’ve had it all.

“Sometimes they would say: ‘Ooh, you’ve got holes in your jeans,’ or mimic my accent.”

On whether she gave them a mouthful, the documentary-maker stated: “No, because I don’t give a f**k what they think. Some people don’t understand why I’m there.

“But I work really hard and I deserve to be there. And our documentaries speak for themselves.”

She added: “We are always top three on iPlayer and often we are most watched factual. The only one we can’t beat is EastEnders.”

It has been a busy past week for Stacey, who has been temporarily fronting The One Show with Matt Baker.

“Had the best week. Ta SO MUCH for havin me,”(sic) she told her her 291,000 Twitter followers last night.

She joined forced with Rylan Clark for the Friday edition, and later told him: “My guy [heart]. Until next time superstar.”

However, Stacey got branded a “chav” by one troll on the micro-blogging site earlier in the week.

“Now THAT is how you do Wednesdays. Matt Baker and @StaceyDooley, you’re on point #TheOneShow,” a clip of the pair dancing was captioned on the programme’s official page.

One user then hit out: “A Chav that got lucky.”

However, Stacey did not take that lying down, sharing the post and writing: “*a chav that works really hard, takes barely any time off, and tries her best at everything she’s given a shot at*.”

Meanwhile, it comes after Stacey Dooley shocked fans with an astounding request on The One Show.

She and Matt got onto the subject of a late night edition of the hit while chatting to the voice of Love Island 2019, Iain Stirling, 31, about a gap that needs to be filled now it has ended.

The One Show continues Monday at 7pm on BBC One.
