Camila Cabello and Shawn Mendes’ new single Senorita is a prime contender for song of the summer.
Released today, the track marks the pair’s second collaboration, having previously teamed up for I Know What You Did Last Summer in 2015, which marked Cabello’s first musical venture without girl group Fifth Harmony.
The song charts a summer romance and fuses Mendes’ signature acoustic pop with the feel of Cabello’s smash hit Havana.
The musicians ramped up anticipation for the project earlier this week with a series of teasers on social media.
Mendes shared a brief teaser from the song’s video on Tuesday, which showed him looking pensive as Cabello appeared in a waitress uniform in an old-fashioned diner.
Cabello then posted a short clip of her own from the promo, before the pair confirmed the release date and title for the surprise collaboration
Directed by Dave Meyers, who has previously worked with Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande and Kendrick Lamar, the video features the pair as young lovers who can’t stay away from one another.
The track was written by Mendes and Cabello alongside Andrew Watt, Benny Blanco, Ali Tamposi, Charli XCX, Jack Patterson and Cashmere Cat.
Mendes surprised fans with the release of If I Can’t Have You last month and is expected to follow Senorita with a new studio album later in 2019.
Cabello confirmed earlier this year that she is working on a second solo album.
