Scarlett Johannson was a vision in red on Thursday as she premiered her new movie Marriage Story with Adam Driver.

Noah Baumbach’s new film stars Scarlett and Adam and it looks absolutely devastating, with the pair starring opposite each other in the upcoming Netflix drama which is described as ‘an incisive and compassionate portrait of a marriage breaking up and a family staying together’.

The film made its debut in front of audiences at the Venice Film Festival to rave reviews, with many calling it the best work ever for the two stars and director Baumbach.

The Marvel actress, 34, looked stunning in the scarlet-red fitted gown with a thigh-high split and matching heeled sandals as she walked the red carpet in Italy.

At a press conference earlier in the day, she said she felt like her role in the film was ‘fated’ as she filmed in 2017 as she was going through her own divorce to Romain Dauriac.

‘When I met with Noah, I was going through a divorce, and I didn’t know what we were meeting about at all. And he didn’t know I was going through a divorce,’ she said.

‘I didn’t know what we were going to talk about… I just kind of blew into the room, ordered a glass of white wine and started complaining.

‘And he was just listening and very attentive. And then he kind of cut it short and said, “Funny you should mention it.”‘

‘It felt sort of fated in a way,’ she added.

‘It was an experience to share with him and have him share with me. And it somehow came at just the right time.’

Having separated from Ryan Reynolds in 2011 and Romain in 2017, Scarlett – who is engaged to Saturday Night Live’s Colin Jost – also said ‘there’s so much of all of us in this film that’s out there for everyone to see’.
