She’s known her flaunting her sartorial prowess on the streets of NYC.

But last night stylish Sarah Jessica Parker was brandishing an accessory we haven’t seen before: a magic wand.

The Sex and the City icon brought Times Square to a standstill as she hosted a Harry Potter and the Cursed Child activation event.

The Cursed Child, the eighth story in the Harry Potter series, was penned by JK Rowling and playwright Jack Thorne.

The hit Broadway show revealed new marketing and branding at last night’s celebration, including a Rowling-penned tagline: ‘Sometimes, darkness comes from unexpected places.’

In an Instagram post, Sarah Jessica called the evening ‘Pure. Magic.’

Of course, last night wasn’t SJP’s first foray into the world of magic.

As well as Sex and the City’s Carrie Bradshaw, one of her most iconic roles was in Disney’s Hocus Pocus in 1993, as the seductive Sarah Sanderson.

Sarah Jessica’s other movie credits include Mars Attacks!, The Family Stone, Failure To Launch and Did you Hear About the Morgans?

Meanwhile, some Harry Potter fans are speculating whether a Cursed Child film could be in the works, following a tweet from Rowling.

The author’s latest social media, posted today, contains the new tagline, with the ‘unexpected places’ line being interpreted by some as a surprise update on the story.

‘Pls Don’t. If Curse Child is gonna be a thing you need to change EVERYTHING!! Keep up the FB series and let that thing die under a train station seat in the limbo pls,’ wrote one fan.

‘‘PLEASE DO NOT DO THIS’ said another. ‘I love Harry Potter, but the Cursed Child should NOT become a film.’

‘I’m sorry JK,’ said a third, ‘but if you are gonna do this, please change the story.‘

The Cursed Child play really does feel like bad fan fiction – Voldemort having a child, Diggory becoming a death eater. Please, I’m begging you.’

All we’re going to say is, if it happens, SJP should star in it!
