Saffron Barker: Newest Strictly star on romance as she’s confirmed for show ‘VERY single’

Saffron Barker – best known for her YouTube videos – has branded herself “very” single as she became the fourth contestant confirmed for Strictly Come Dancing 2019. Former finalist on the BBC dancing show, Ashley Roberts, revealed the news to the world on Heart Breakfast. The 37-year-old couldn’t resist asking the vlogger about romance during their chat earlier this morning. However, the social media star, 19, said she is going to be too focused on the training to think about anything else.

“We’ve got to ask. Are you single?” Ashley had asked, before Saffron left listeners in no doubt as to her relationship status.

“I am,” she said, before adding: “Very.”

“She’s very single. So are you looking for love on the dancefloor?” the former Pussycat Dolls hitmaker probed.

She replied: “You know what I haven’t even really thought about that. I think I’m just so focussed on… obviously I want to meet my partner and have the best time and everything else.

“But I’m just so focused on working hard and yeah I haven’t even really thought about it so…”

Saffron has over four million followers across her combined social channels and averaging 15 million views a month on YouTube.

Two years ago, her book Saffron Barker Vs Real Life reached number one on the Sunday Times bestsellers list and her popularity has also gained her three successful homeware ranges with Primark.

The teenager is also a supporter of several charities and this year completed the London Landmarks Half Marathon for the Make A Wish foundation.

She also completed the London Marathon, running for Dementia Revolution in memory of her Great Grandad Ted.

During her interview, Saffron was asked what she was most excited about after signing up to Strictly.

She added: “Everything. I’m actually most excited to find out my partner, although I know I’ve still got to wait another month till I find out.

“But just to get started, learning a new skill obviously. Like how cool to say you can do Latin and Ballroom? And obviously all the glitz and glam.”

Meanwhile, it comes just hours after the first three Strictly contestants were announced on The One Show.

Former footballer David James, EastEnders actress Emma Barton and comedian Chris Ramsey are all taking part in the 17th run.

Tune in to Heart Breakfast, weekdays from 6.30am-10am.

Strictly Come Dancing 2019 is expected to launch on BBC One later this month.
