‘Sadly won’t be part of it’ Dan Walker addresses family reasons for Strictly tour absence

BBC Breakfast presenter Dan Walker, 44, has revealed the family reasons behind his noticeable absence from the Strictly Come Dancing 2022 live tour line-up. Despite reaching the quarter finals of the BBC dance show with his partner Nadiya Bychkova, Dan will not be joining his Strictly co-stars on the highly anticipated tour next year.

The star explained that although he “can’t wait” to take his wife Sarah Walker and their three children; daughters Susanna and Jessica, and son Joe, along to watch the tour, he “sadly won’t be part of it”.

Dan admitted in a Twitter post that after performing beyond his own expectations on Strictly this year, he “wants to be at home” to catch up on the quality time he missed with his loved ones due to training for the dance competition.

The BBC host wrote in view of his 738,000 followers: “I can’t wait to take my family to watch the #Strictly tour this year but I sadly won’t be part of it.

“I have too many work commitments and I want to be at home after spending so much longer on the actual show than I ever expected.

Stu Barney also quipped: “The wife has spoken, eh Dan.”

Jen S replied: “Good decision. Family is more important. It’ll be great to watch with them. Enjoy your downtime x.”

Fortunately for fans of the show, lots of Dan’s fellow Strictly 2021 stars will be performing on the tour.

Fan favourites including John Whaite and Johannes Radebe, and Rose Ayling-Ellis and Giovanni Pernice are part of the line-up.

Other pairs announced for the tour include Sara Davies and Aljaz Skorjanec, Tilly Ramsay and Nikita Kuzmin, AJ Odudu and Kai Widdrington, and CBBC star Rhys Stephenson and Nancy Xu.

The Wanted singer Max George, who took part in Strictly in 2020, will also join the 2022 tour.

Max will be dancing with Katya Jones after previously being partnered with Dianne Buswell.

Strictly professionals Amy Dowden, Neil Jones, Luba Mushtuk and Jowita Przystal will also be joining the cast on the tour.

Former Strictly professional and It Takes Two presenter Janette Manrara has been named as the host for the upcoming 2022 tour.

Judges Craig Revel Horwood, Shirley Ballas and Bruno Tonioli will be part of the tour line-up.
