Sadio Mane concern for Liverpool ahead of crunch clash with Fulham

Liverpool are hopeful Sadio Mane will be fit to face Fulham on Sunday after missing training.

The Senegalese forward was the star of the show again in midweek as he scored twice against Bayern Munich.

The brace took Mane’s tally to six in his last four games as he continues to outshine talisman Mo Salah.

But there are concerns ahead of Sunday’s trip to the capital after Mane missed Friday’s training session at Melwood.

It is unclear if Mane has an injury problem with Jurgen Klopp likely to give him every chance of featuring against the struggling Cottagers.

Skipper Jordan Henderson will definitely sit out the encounter after suffering an ankle injury in Munich.

Liverpool are also likely to again be without Naby Keita at Fulham.

There is positive news on defender Joe Gomez, who is closing in on a return to the first team.

Speaking on Friday, Klopp confirmed Gomez will be back in action after the international break.

Gomez has already done much fitness work, to strengthen muscle after suffering a hairline fracture against Burnley way back in early December.

He was due back by the end of January, but suffered a set back which required surgery, and that led to fears he may miss the rest of the season – but he is close to returning.
