What’s better than a movie with The Rock and Wonder Woman? A movie with The Rock, Wonder Woman and Deadpool, of course.

Ryan Reynolds has been confirmed to star alongside Dwayne Johnson and Gal Gadot in Netflix’s biggest cinematic coup to date.

The trio of A-listers have joined the cast of Red Notice, which has been greenlit for production by Netflix after previously being attached to Universal.

The action thriller is all about the exploits of the world’s most wanted art thief, and will take place across the globe.

According to Deadline, Universal won Red Notice – directed by Rawson Marshall-Thurber – after a ‘ferocious’ bidding war, in which the streaming service was runner-up.

However, the production company apparently got cold feet after Thrurber pitched his screenplay and budget last month – despite the film being slated for release on 13 November 2020.

The production budget is believed to be a whopping $130 million, with Dwayne Johnson nabbing a $20 million salary.

Not too shabby.

The Jumanji star’s production company Seven Bucks is also attached to the project, with the wrestling legend saying: ‘With Red Notice, our goal at Seven Bucks Productions was to break down traditional barriers and create a true global event for the audience. Netflix has illustrated that they are the perfect partners to accomplish this goal.

‘I admire the ambition of Netflix to become one of the biggest movie studios in the world. Their original content generates critical acclaim and invites full collaboration on every level of production. Their unbridled enthusiasm for Red Notice is equally matched by their commitment to entertaining audiences on an international scale.

‘As the landscape of movies, distribution and audience consumption continues to evolve, our Seven Bucks focus is to continue to find the best platform and partners to thrive in this ever changing environment. Director/writer Rawson Thurber has delivered a dynamic script that me and my co-stars and partners-in-heist, Gal Gadot and Ryan Reynolds, can’t wait to shoot.

‘The fun we’re gonna have making Red Notice, but more importantly — the fun the worldwide audience will have watching it in 190+ countries — all at the same moment.’

Netflix has had success with a number of original movies including Okja, 22 July, The Ballad of Buster Scruggs, Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle, Roma, Bired Box and To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before – although none have had as much star power as Red Notice.
