Russell Wilson expresses concerns over starting NFL season during pandemic with wife Ciara expecting their second child

He’s expecting his second child with wife Ciara.

And NFL pro Russell Wilson is expressing fears about starting up the new season during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

‘I am concerned. My wife is pregnant. @NFL Training camp is about to start.. And there’s still No Clear Plan on Player Health & Family Safety,’ the Seattle Seahawks quarterback, 31, tweeted on Sunday.

‘We want to play football but we also want to protect our loved ones,’ he said, adding the hashtag, #WeWantToPlay.

Wilson and Ciara, 34, announced in January that were having a sibling for their daughter Sienna, three. 

The new baby will be the singer and model’s third child as she also shares a son Future, six, with her ex, the rapper Future.

Wilson isn’t the only football star to have reservations about starting training again as cases of COVID-19 surge across the U.S.

Jared Goff, JJ Watt and Patrick Mahomes have expressed similar fears on social media recently.

A week ago, the NFL Player’s Association revealed that 72 players across the league have tested positive for COVID-19.

Ciara and Wilson celebrated their fourth wedding anniversary on July 6.

In an interview with British Vogue recently, she explained that she feels she has to be ‘really cautious’ about being pregnant during the pandemic.

She shared how hard it had been to go for an ultrasound at the hospital by herself and without her husband.

‘We women carry the baby, but for my husband, being in the room and listening to the heartbeat in real time is one of his ways of connecting,’ she explained. ‘For him not to be part of that was a symbol of this time that we’re living through.’
