Ruby Rose is Batwoman, DC’s first openly gay superhero.
And first look pictures of the actress filming the pilot of the TV series shows her looking like an absolute boss draped in a leather jacket in scenes shot in Chicago.
In one street-based shot the actress has her hand tattoos on show, her hair spiked, and is wearing ripped jeans and black boots as she watches something intently in the distance.
Ruby’s new haircut, which gives her a shaved undercut, as well as the fact that she rides a motorbike in some of her first scenes, sets up how cool the series will be. It’s a mood.
The actor, a prolific DJ who found fame during her stint on Orange Is The New Black, revealed how excited she was to play a gay hero.
Ruby, who identifies as gender fluid and is openly gay, told TV Week that the role was a ‘win’ for the LGBT+ community.
‘It fulfils my life mantra of, “Be the person you needed when you were young,”‘ she told the magazine.
‘I can’t speak on behalf of everyone in the LGBTIQ community, but I know any win for anyone in our community is a win for all.’
The Australian actress recently revealed her Batwoman (real name Kate Kane) costume to her fans.
Bright pink tresses and those cat ears we all know and love, the superhero is set to be an awesome addition to the on-screen DC Universe.
She made her debut appearance in an upcoming series Elseworlds, a crossover between the DC franchises currently on TV.
Batwoman will air in 2019.
