Ruby Bhogal says Bake Off doesn’t do judges and presenters justice

Great British Bake Off finalist Ruby Bhogal has spilled the tea (and biscuits) on how she thinks the judges and presenters aren’t done justice on the beloved Channel 4 show.

The star claimed that Prue Leith, Paul Hollywood, Noel Fielding and Sandi Toksvig are much more ‘kind-hearted and warm’ than the final edit really shows, despite the production team doing a ‘fantastic’ job.

‘Honestly the [judges] are so nice. Production do a fantastic job at editing the show but I don’t think they do them justice some of them time,’ the 29-year-old explained.

‘When you’re doing the challenges and you’re feeling a bit stressed or someone is in a bit of a wobble, Noel and Sandi are sent in by production to kind of help chill you out a bit.

‘I remember when my cake fell over and they were real saviours to me,’ she added to the Express. ‘I don’t show my emotions too much and it was a case of try not to cry, but having their support as soon as that happened helped me.’

The star, who eventually lost out on the GBBO win to co-star Rahul Mandal, previously revealed that half of contestants quit their jobs to appear on the baking show.

Now that’s commitment.

‘I think there was a 50 per cent split on those who were in employment and some who had other commitments,’ she explained to Metro.co.uk. ‘Some were full-time parents.’

Ruby decided to stay working as a project manager in infrastructure and construction during her time in the infamous tent, recalling: ‘It was a tricky decision to stay in employment, but I’m young and I have bills to pay so quitting my job wasn’t really an option for me.

‘It was a bit of a struggle sometimes but I managed to juggle my time quite well. It was manageable. I just didn’t get as much sleep as others in the competition.’
