Ron Leibman’s death has been confirmed by his agent at Abrams Artists Agency in the US. They told The Wrap: “We at Abrams Artists Agency are saddened to hear the news of Ron’s passing.
“Ron was an incredibly talented actor with a distinguished career in film, TV and theatre. Our thoughts go out to his wife, Jessica, and his family.”
It is believed the actor died following a battle with Pneumonia.
He was widely known for playing Rachel Green’s (played by Jennifer Aniston) father Dr. Leonard Green and his role as Reuben Warshowsky in Norma Rae.
Ron’s career spanned for over six decades.
Back in 2011, Ron said he was reluctant to take on his role in Friends and torment Ross (David Schwimmer), who was Rachel’s love interest.
In an interview with The AV Club, he said: “It sounded stupid to me, so I turned it down.
“And my daughter, then, who was of that age, said, ‘No, you have to do it, you have to do it! I love that show, and I want to meet those kids’.”
He added: “I said, ‘All right. I’ll do it. I’ll do it once, but that’s all I’m doing.’
