And he was in no doubt where he stood as he raised his hand, proclaiming: “And people call me slow.”

Lukaku pointed directly into the camera as he spoke in a comment aimed at his detractors.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer initially used the former Chelsea and Everton ace as a winger.

But injuries to several stars, including first-choice front man Marcus Rashford, handed Lukaku a shot to impress.

He took his chance with both hands – scoring six in three games, including a match-winning double against Paris Saint-Germain.

Fitness race

Lukaku pulled out of the Belgium squad through injury and is now fighting to be fit to face Watford on Saturday.

The 79-cap ace suffered the blow during a clash with Marquinhos during the win against PSG, before aggravating the problem against Arsenal.

And the KO has left him gutted as he is currently on 45 goals for Belgium and could have got closer to his half-century during the international break.

United are sweating on Anthony Martial’s fitness ahead of the Watford clash on March 30 as he has picked up a knee injury and the extent of the problem is yet to be determined.

Martial was due to make his France return after a year out of the fold but suffered a recurrence of a right knee problem which had dogged him for a year.

The strike-pair lead an extensive injury list ahead of the end-of-season run-in.
