Rod Stewart and wife Penny celebrate wedding anniversary with lavish boat ride

Rod Stewart and Penny Lancaster have marked their 14-year wedding anniversary with a lavish boat ride in London.

The Celtic-daft rocker whisked his wife away on a romantic sail down the Thames in the glistening sunshine and even treated her to a glass of bubbly.

Police officer Penny looked radiant as she donned a floral print maxi dress and her hair in lose curls and Rod smiled away in a pair of lemon trousers and a funky patterned suit jacket.

Wishing her husband a happy anniversary on Instagram, Penny wrote: “Celebrating our 14th wedding anniversary on #sigridofchelsea in aid of @chainofhopeuk #london #thethames.”

And many sent their well wishes to the couple.

One said: “Happy 14th Anniversary to a wonderful couple. Here’s to many more.”

The couple’s anniversary celebration comes after Penny revealed that her rocker husband bought her a narrowboat for her 50th birthday after she decided she wanted a new hobby for lockdown.

During a recent appearance on Loose Women, Penny said it was her dream to buy a narrowboat and renovate it.

Lifting the lid on her unusual birthday gift, the star explained: “Well, in the first lockdown I realised I quite enjoyed it, I enjoyed slowing down and a more simple life

“The second lockdown was a bit tougher, and I thought, ‘I need to think of something, a hobby, where I can slow down’, and there is a lovely river near us that snakes its way down to London.

“And there are lovely little narrowboats, and I thought my dream would be to get a little narrowboat and do it up, so that’s what Rod got me.”

Back in March, Rod was recovering from a knee operation and crashed his wife’s live interview with Lorraine Kelly.

Penny appeared on Lorraine to talk about becoming a special constable in the police and just as she chatted away to Lorraine, Rod appeared in the shot.

The 76-year-old appeared behind Penny and waved to the camera and TV host Lorraine said: “He’s behind you! Hello gorgeous!”

The singer quickly exited from the shot but wife Penny went on to explain that despite recovering from surgery, Rod has been keeping himself busy.

She said: “He had knee surgery, that was fantastic and he got over that quickly but the ankle surgery is taking a little bit longer, but he’ll be back!”
