Riverdale season 4 spoilers: Veronica Lodge devastated as father Hiram drops bombshell

Riverdale fans will know the row between Veronica Lodge (played by Camila Mendes) and Hiram Lodge (Mark Consuelos) has escalated to devastating heights in the past, with Archie Andrews (KJ Apa) getting hurt along the way.

The last season of the Netflix show saw Hiram relentlessly torment Archie because he disapproved of him dating Veronica.

The villain landed Archie in jail before teaming up with the corrupt warden to torment the protagonist, trying to kill him off in an illegal fight club.

However, despite their differences and questionable business politics, Hiram’s violence had never been directed at his daughter, but showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa revealed this could all change next season.

Speaking to TV Season & Spoilers, the showrunner teased a “tremendously difficult” season four for all four main characters.

However, despite the privileged Veronica always seeming to have it easiest of the four, it seems the next outing could see her in deep waters.

Fans are expecting to see Hiram unleash a new wave of anger after last season saw Veronica betray him.

Previous scenes saw Veronica work with the authorities to get her fraudster father arrested for illegal activities in his businesses just before he was set to kill Archie in the ring.

However, fans could see the villain out of jail and ready for revenge as the showrunner revealed Hiram is about to drop a very big bombshell on the female lead.

Moreover, no one can protect her including her mother Hermione Lodge (Marisol Nichols) who is now the Mayor of Riverdale.

Will Hiram escape jail to wreak revenge on his daughter?

The spoiler comes after Hal Cooper star Lochlyn Munro, who was earlier revealed as the Black Hood dropped a clue he may return in the next outing.

The actor posted an image of the season four episode five script front cover, which has been watermarked with his name.

If the star has his own copy of the script, does this mean he will be involved in upcoming episodes?.

With Hal supposedly dead, fans are wondering how showrunners would bring the character back to the show.

Lochlyn commented on the script cover writing: “Very good script… WOW!!!” leaving fans entirely confused.

The episode – titled Chapter Sixty-Two: WITNESS FOR THE PROSECUTION – teases some sort of courtroom action, and even shows off the cartoon version of Veronica.

This is bound to have something to do with her father’s charges. Will Hiram be released from jail or seek vengeance from inside?

One fan commented on the image to theorise: “I just looked at Lochlyn Munro’s Instagram feed and it looks like he was on set for the Halloween episode too. Dream sequence for Betty?

Riverdale season 4 starts October 9 on The CW and October 10 on Netflix.
