Riot Games Twitch Viewership Up 20% YoY for LCS, LEC Spring Split Semifinals

Live coverage of the League of Legends Championship Series Database-Link-e1521645463907 (LCS) and LoL European Championship Database-Link-e1521645463907 (LEC) Spring Split semifinals on Riot Games’ Database-Link-e1521645463907 Twitch Database-Link-e1521645463907 channel recorded 1.8M and 1.1M hours watched respectively, up from last year for each league.

The second round of the playoffs for the LEC on Friday and Saturday averaged 97K concurrent viewers, up from an average of 76K CCV during the 2018 Spring Split semifinals. The 1.1M hours watched total for live coverage was also up from 826K hours watched last year.

Weekend action for the LCS spanning Saturday and Sunday averaged 158K CCV, up from 141K CCV last year. The league’s 1.8M hours watched total, was up slightly from 1.78M hours watched in 2018.

Last year’s LCS semifinals included one five-game match and one four-game match. The LEC semifinals in 2018 had two four-game matches.

Overall, the Riot Games Twitch channel recorded 3.5M hours watched over the weekend for full coverage of both leagues, including peripheral coverage and re-runs, with an average of 59K CCV. In 2018, Riot Games’ channel produced 2.9M hours watched with an average of 71K CCV.

Figures on Riot Games’ main channel don’t reflect the entirety of LEC coverage on Twitch. There are numerous alternative-language broadcast partners for the league that include O’Gaming TV (French), LVP (Spanish), Polsat Games by Frenzy (Polish), Summornser Inn Live by Freaks4U Gaming (German), and PG Esports (Italian). Though these alternatives provide a plethora of options for European viewers, in order to find consistency in year-over-year statistics, growth is measured most effectively using the main Riot Games broadcast.

The peak CCV of 293K from the weekend came during the fifth map of TSM’s win against Cloud9. That fill session’s average CCV of 187K outperformed all other sessions.
