  • Fandom will partner with Riot Games and State Farm to offer a four-week Teamfight Tactics tournament.
  • Each week will see a $2K USD prize pool with a finals prize pool of $5K.
  • This could be a viewership litmus test for Riot’s title as the company has said it will commit resources to TFT esports starting in 2020.

Today Fandom, a media brand focusing on entertainment news, announced a weekly Teamfight Tactics tournament in partnership with Riot Games and State Farm. The tournament, named Fandom Legends: Teamfight Tactics, begins on Dec. 1 and will take four weeks to complete.

According to the release, each week, 16 players will compete for a prize pool of $2K, in hopes of qualifying for the State Farm Championship Finals. The finals will be held on Sunday, Dec. 21, with a total prize pool of $5K.

Two winners of each of the weekly tournaments will qualify to compete in Fandom Legends: Teamfight Tactics. This allows an environment for open qualifiers, providing an opportunity for anyone to compete.

“We look forward to growing our existing relationship with Riot Games in order to provide the

Teamfight Tactics community with weekly tournaments,” said Sean Kiely,  head of gaming and esports sales at Fandom. “In addition to hosting known top players, the tournament will open a path for new and upcoming talent to make a name for themselves online. We are particularly excited to welcome trusted brand State Farm as a partner and supporter of the Teamfight Tactics community.”

Working with Riot isn’t new for State Farm as the company has been a sponsor of League of Legends since 2018, but has upped the ante by now getting involved with the Mid-Seasonal Invitational, All-Star event, and the 2021 World Championship.

Fandom Legends: Teamfight Tactics will be broadcast live on Twitch.

Teamfight Tactics has attracted the fandom of many League of Legends players and fans. The title has seen over 33M players every month.

With Riot committing to TFT esports starting in 2020, this event could prove to be a viewership litmus test to see how big of an audience they can attract.
