Renee Zellweger couldn’t contain her joy as she met arguably her cutest – and furriest – fan to date at the latest Judy premiere this week.

The 50-year-old actress had just arrived at the Cinema Gaumont Marignan in Paris, France on Tuesday evening when a fan’s wolfdog puppy grabbed her attention outside the venue.

After giving it a little stroke, Renee scooped the pup up into her arms and gave it big cuddle before posing for a photo with her fan.

If there’s anything that can put a smile on someone’s face, it’s an adorable dog and the puppy did just that for Renee who frankly, looked just as happy to meet the pet as she was to accept her Bafta Award last weekend.

After taking her own photos, Renee handed the pup over to a male fan – presumably the dog’s other owner – but was under the watchful eye of a security guard who looked on intently as the actress went in for another stroke.

Renee has been busy on the promotional trail in recent weeks for Judy, which sees her portray late Hollywood icon Judy Garland.

The biopic is set in 1968 during the last year of Judy’s life when she arrived in London for a series of sold-out concerts.

Judy died at the age of 47 in June 1969 following a drug overdose.

Renee’s performance as the legendary movie star has earned her critical acclaim as well as the Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild awards for best actress.

Last Sunday, Renee scooped her third major award for the performance, winning best actress at the Baftas.

In her lengthy and teary acceptance speech, the Bridget Jones’ Diary star paid tribute to Jessie Buckley who was nominated in the category for her performance in Wild Rose.

‘Jessie Buckley you are a superstar, I’m so proud of you for this evening. You elevate everything that you do, I love you and I admire you and I’m so grateful for our collaboration. Thank you for our friendship, thank you,’ Renee said.

Renee will now be going for gold and hoping to score her fourth award for Judy when the Oscars take place this Sunday (9 February).
