Reason why Jose Mourinho will not be next Real Madrid boss, according to Ruud Gullit

Jose Mourinho won’t take over from Santiago Solari at Real Madrid because there is nothing to gain from the job.

That’s according to Ruud Gullit, who doesn’t believe any manager in the world would want to step into the mess Los Blancos currently find themselves in.

Real Madrid were recently thumped 3-0 by bitter rivals Barcelona in El Clasico before the Catalan club beat them again 1-0 at the Bernabeu.

On Tuesday the Spaniards were favourites to progress to the quarter-finals of the Champions League after beating Ajax 2-1 in the first leg of their last-16 tie.

But Los Blancos were thrashed 4-1 by the Amsterdam-based club in their own back yard, piling the pressure on Solari.

Jose Mourinho has been linked with the Real Madrid manager’s job

Speaking on beIN SPORTS Gullit said: “[Solari] has to be afraid for his job.

“They were humiliated against Barcelona and then this happens. How are they going to resolve this?

“Who is going to step in? No one wants to step into this.

Ruud Gullit doesn’t think Mourinho would take the Real Madrid job at the moment

“[Mourinho] won’t step in now, I don’t think he will step in now.

“I can’t believe that he would step in now, there’s nothing to gain, there’s nothing to win.”

Marcel Desailly agreed with the Dutchman, adding: “They’ve lost everything, and in a bad way as well, it’s not like they tried, it’s humiliation.

Santiago Solari is under intense pressure after defeat in the Champions League

“Remember Mourinho, he plays with the fact that he can potentially bring players to victory.

“Instead he would just take the team slowly until the end of the season.”
