Real Madrid star Jude Bellingham could make his return from an ankle injury next week, according to reports.

Bellingham was withdrawn in the 57th minute of Madrid’s game against Girona on January 10 as Carlo Ancelotti’s side cruised to a 4-0 win over La Liga title contenders Girona.

The Englishman had already notched up two goals before he picked up his injury, extending his superb goalscoring form since joining the Spanish giants from Borussia Dortmund in the summer.

The 20-year-old has already bagged 16 goals in just 21 league games so far this season but has missed the last two games as he recovers from the aforementioned ankle knock.

However, according to Spanish outlet Marca, Bellingham is now nearing his return to first-team action.

While he will miss this weekend’s clash against Sevilla, Madrid staff are said to be hopeful that the Englishman will return in time for their trip to Valencia the following weekend.

In his absence, Madrid managed to secure an important 1-0 away win against RB Leipzig in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie but fell to a disappointing 1-1 draw against Rayo Vallecano last weekend.

Madrid, though, still have a six-point lead over surprise contenders Girona and are eight points ahead of Barcelona in third.

And the league leaders will be boosted by the return of Antonio Rudiger to first-team training ahead of their clash with Sevilla.

Bellingham’s superb start to life in Spain has earned plaudits from far and wide, with Rio Ferdinand suggesting earlier in the week that his form was ‘world class’.

‘He’s edging into there [world-class territory] but the thing that means he’s not on that list for now is time,’ the former Manchester United centre-back said of the Madrid midfielder on TNT Sports.

‘He will be there. He’s in world-class form, he just needs that time.’
