Rangers vs Celtic result: Christopher Jullien settles fiery Scottish League Cup final

Christopher Jullien earned 10-man Celtic victory over Old Firm rivals Rangers in a fiery Scottish League Cup final.

It was Celtic’s 10th successive domestic trophy in a row.

The French defender put Neil Lennon’s side ahead against the run of play, prodding home from a set piece.

But Steven Gerrard’s side were handed a lifeline when Jeremie Frimpong saw red for a last-ditch tackle on Alfredo Morelos.

The Colombian was denied by an inspirational Fraser Forster from the spot though.

Morelos was then involved in a controversial incident moments later when officials missed his stamp on Jullien.

And the Rangers striker’s bad day was compounded when he put one final chance inches wide in stoppage time as Celtic held on.

Jullien, whose goal earned his first trophy as a Celtic player, paid tribute to Forster.

“I was really not happy with the first half, the second half showed the strength we have since the start of the year,” Jullien told BT Sport.

“It’s so difficult. To score the winner to win the trophy is just unbelievable, it’s for the staff, thank you for everything.

“It was really difficult, when we went down to 10 men. Fraser did an unbelievable job, he’s the best goalkeeper I’ve ever played with, I’m so happy for him.”
