A PRO-Israel Tory MP is quitting politics – citing fears for his safety.
The 63-year-old says he feels “lucky to be alive” after a suspected arson attack on his London constituency office in December.
And while he accepted that some abuse was “par for the course” for an MP, he added: “You shouldn’t really have to think, am I going to survive the day?”
Last night, Mr Freer said increasing threats have made his husband Angelo nervous, particularly following the attack on his office.
He told the Daily Mail: “Obviously your husband or your family’s views have to carry a lot of weight.
“And when someone worries that, are you going to come home at night? – you have to take that seriously.”
