The Pro Football Retired Players Association has entered into a strategic partnership with Thunder Studios, a Los Angeles-based full-service media company. The PFRPA, which develops programs for retired NFL players, is looking to expand its Gridiron Gaming initiative into the esports space by creating tournaments and events while creating and monetizing esports content.
The collaboration between the two will look to facilitate and establish the Gridiron Gaming tournament series that will produce online and physical events to be broadcast live on Twitch. There will be cash prizes for finalists as well as a championship event to wrap up the series.
This will all be done with the goal of providing retired NFL players with opportunities to regain that competitive feeling while giving fans a chance at interacting with their NFL heroes of the past. Thunder Studios will create and produce original programs and interactive experiences to that end.
