Primark recalls primer water over fears it can cause ‘infection or irritation’

PRIMARK has recalled three primer waters over fears they can cause “infection or irritation” if used.

Customers have been told to get their money back if they’ve purchased the retailer’s own-brand Primer Water in charcoal, watermelon or coconut.

The fashion brand warned that the primers contain a higher than allowed level of aerobic mesophilic bacteria.

If used on damaged skin or on contact with the eyes, Primark says the products may cause infection or irritation.

The retailer says the risk is especially high for those with a weakened immune system.

Primark is advising all customers to return the primer waters to their nearest store for a full refund and says no proof of purchase is necessary.

The recall notice is also being issued for Penneys stores, the Irish equivalent of Primark.

The beauty products were on sale from February to August of this year for £2.

A Primark spokesperson said the primer waters have been recalled voluntarily.

They said: “We take the safety of our customers and quality of our products very seriously.

“It has come to our attention that these primer waters do not meet our usual high standards.

“We ask that customers return the product to any Primark store for a full refund.”

Concerned customers can also contact Primark on their customer service line on 0118 960 6300.
