United favourites to sign Griezmann

Spanish newspaper Sport reports that Antoine Griezmann wants to leave Atletico Madrid and Manchester United are favourites to sign the French forward.

Griezmann, a World Cup winner with France in 2018, was linked with a move to Barcelona last year before deciding to stay with Atletico.

The Manchester Evening News says that United, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain are “all mentioned as potential destinations” for the 27-year-old.

Saul close to City move

Another Atletico Madrid star who could be making his way to Manchester this summer is Saul Niguez. Manchester City are closing in on a deal for the midfielder, 24, who is being lined up as a long-term replacement for Fernandinho. (ESPN)

Zlatan turned down City

Former Manchester United striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic has revealed that he turned down a move to Manchester City in 2010 when he was with Barcelona. The Swede, who now plays in the United States for MLS side LA Galaxy, instead chose to sign for AC Milan. Ibrahimovic said: “I had the chance to go to Manchester City when I was at Barcelona but after that moment in Barcelona, I needed to find happiness.” (Daily Mirror)

Nobody waiting for Hazard

The “Eden Hazard to Real Madrid” transfer saga continues but the Chelsea star is refusing to be distracted by the speculation. Real have long been interested in the Belgian playmaker but Hazard said: “At the moment there’s nobody waiting for me. We still have two important months with Chelsea. We can win the Europa League. We have to win the Europa League or we have to finish in the top four to play in the Champions League.” (Metro)

Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud is being linked with a return to France with Marseille or Lyon but his salary demands could be too much for the Ligue 1 clubs. (Le10 Sport)

Chelsea winger Willian has revealed that he wants to stay at Stamford Bridge. The Brazilian, who has a year left on his contract, said: “I don’t know if they want me, but of course I want to continue here. This club is very special to me. I won titles here, I have the affection from the fans and from the people that work in the club. I feel comfortable to stay. I am happy when I play well and score goals.
