Pokemon Go Evolution event release date: Shiny Burmy and other secrets revealed

The new Pokemon Go Evolution event is kicking off later this week and could be one of the last major celebrations of the year.

Niantic revealed its plans to host several features, including shiny catches and an exclusive Raid Day.

So there’s plenty for Android and iOS gamers to look forward over the coming weeks.

WHEN IS THE POKEMON GO EVOLUTION EVENT RELEASE DATE?

According to Niantic, the Pokemon Go Evolution event release date has been set for later today, December 5.

It fits into the usual pattern of launching major celebrations on Thursdays and this new evolution week will prove no different.

The downside for Trainers in the UK is that the Evolution event will be kicking off in the evening, at around 9pm, GMT.

Things will kick off much earlier in the United States, with new Pokemon Go bonuses going live at around 1pm, PT.

The new Pokemon Evolution event will also include a special Raid Day, which is being hosted this weekend.

It’s been confirmed that this will be happening on Saturday, December 7, 2019, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in your local time zone.

“Perhaps one of the greatest lessons we learn from Pokémon is that it’s possible to evolve into a surprising and cool being—sometimes we just need a little boost or help!” a message from Niantic explains.

“Let’s celebrate how much your Pokémon (and you) have grown this year with the first-ever Evolution Event and an accompanying Raid Day.

“Pokémon Evolution can depend on whether a Pokémon is a certain gender or has spent time as a Buddy Pokémon.

“Sometimes Evolution occurs because of particular items, times of day, or Lure Modules. During this event, you’ll be able to explore all these unique ways Pokémon evolve.”

As mentioned above, Trainers will get access to a range of timed bonuses that will be available throughout the event.

This includes being able to encounter Shiny Burmy, which is just one of a number of rewards available.

Others include:

  • Pokémon that evolve in unique ways—such as Onix, Eevee, Roselia, and Burmy—will be appearing more often in the wild, in raids, and in Field Research.
  • Take on raids against Pokémon with unique Evolutions, like Lickitung, Scyther, Togetic, and Ralts!
  • Find more 2 km Eggs that will hatch into Pokémon such as Tyrogue, Feebas, Burmy, and Happiny.
  • Event-specific Field Research tasks that reward Evolution items, which can help you evolve certain Pokémon, will be available.
  • All Lure Modules will last one hour for the duration of the event, including the Glacial, Magnetic, and Mossy Lure Modules.

When it comes to the Evolution Raid Day, Pokemon Go gamers will have a choice of different encounters to enjoy.

RAID DAY SCHEDULE

  • Encounter Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle in one-star raids.
  • Encounter Ivysaur, Charmeleon, and Wartortle in two-star raids.
  • Encounter Venusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise in four-star raids.
  • Receive up to five additional Raid Passes during the Raid Day time period when you spin a Photo Disc at a Gym. These Raid Passes will not be available after the event period is over. You cannot hold more than one Raid Pass at once.

Pokemon Go Evolution Event is set to kick off later today and is scheduled to end on Thursday, December 12, at 9pm GMT.
