Pinn’s illustration of the week: Super Saturday

An agreement on a new Brexit deal was announced by EU and UK negotiators on Thursday, hours before the start of an EU leader’s summit.

Boris Johnson is struggling to get enough support among MPs to be sure of pushing the deal though the UK parliament on Saturday, with the Democratic Unionist party not satisfied with the plan “as it stands” because it removes their veto over new customs arrangements for Northern Ireland.

Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn said the deal should be rejected as it was “even worse” than the similar withdrawal agreement negotiated by Theresa May last year. Liberal Democrats and the Scottish National party also made it clear they would not vote for the deal, leaving Mr Johnson to rely on Tories he recently expelled from the party and pro-deal Labour rebels, setting the stage for a dramatic battle for the Brexit vote.
