Good Morning Britain host Piers Morgan has asked singer Katherine Jenkins to release her own version of We’ll Meet Again to raise money during the coronavirus crisis.
The controversial broadcaster, who has received praise for his contribution in querying and battling Covid-19, suggested classical singer Jenkins, 39, could cover Dame Vera Lynn’s wartime classic after it was referenced by the Queen in her Sunday night address to the nation.
Morgan thought Jenkins could sing the song alongside children, after a young girl went viral when she sung the song to family members who worked on the NHS frontline.
Jenkins has a history of performing the beloved track, previously duetting alongside Dame Vera Lynn for the D-Day anniversary in 2017.
She is also currently holding concerts from her very own living room for quarantined audiences.
Morgan was also praised by viewers this morning after he spoke in awe at the contribution made by immigrants during the Covid-19 outbreak.
“I have a lovely Fillipino lady who works for me, Corinne, who was on Zoom with her friends,” he told co-host Susanna Reid.
“All her friends work for the NHS, I didn’t realise. We forget about this extraordinary workforce that comes from all around the world to help the NHS. They’re unsung heroes.
“It’s worth bearing in mind when we talk about immigrants in this country. These are the immigrants currently saving people’s lives. Coming here and actually enriching our country and doing an amazing job.
“I hope at the end of this we have a different sense of what immigration has done for this country.”
