Peter Kay, 46, and the Car Share team treated fans to an audio version of the show amid the coronavirus pandemic, but a particular moment has left viewers unimpressed. According to the BBC’s latest report obtained by The Metro, 175 people have complained about an “offensive reference to breastfeeding and/or bias against breastfeeding”.
During the episode, Peter, who plays John, and Sian Gibson, who plays Kayleigh, discussed children’s soft play areas as they reminisced about their own childhoods.
Peter’s character seemed startled as Kayleigh said she had witnessed a mother breastfeeding her three-year-old boy.
“How do you know he was three?” John asked, to which his co-star said: “He had balloons.”
He continued: “Is that what you call them? Breastfeeding at three?”

“Swear down. Hanging off the t** with his teeth in Timbalands,” she continued to say.
John replied, telling listeners there is a “time and a place” for the moment.
“I am surprised his mum wasn’t in tears with a three-year-old gnawing at her, they have proper teeth at that age, she must have been in agony.
“They say breast is best but you have got to draw the line somewhere,” he added.
“It’s not helpful in a world where it is already frowned upon.”
Peter, Sian and writer Paul Coleman were all behind the script for the audio-version of the show.
The comedian said of its release: “It’s a horrific situation right now we’re all going through and like so many I felt compelled to try and do something positive in an effort to cheer people in some way.
“Sian Gibson, Paul Coleman and myself got together via t’internet and wrote a new short episode of Car Share in an effort to try cheer people up.”
He added: “It’s all happened very quickly, in fact it didn’t exist a week ago.
“Obviously we weren’t able to film anything because of the lockdown but I hope people will use their imagination and enjoy listening.”
Writer Paul Coleman also tweeted about the episode, writing: “Hope you enjoy the #CarShare audio episode on @BBCiPlayer from 7pm today.
“We pulled this together last weekend to try and give people a little distraction.
“Hope it makes people smile and helps them remember what commuting to work felt like. #StayHomeSaveLives.”
