PETE Tong has revealed he pogos on stage during his “electrifying” performances.
Speaking to Chris Evans on the Virgin Radio Breakfast Show today, the 59-year-old DJ explained why he often brings a pogo stick on stage.
Chris said: “You’re quite a cool guy. You quite still individual. You know. And did you feel any pressure onstage to be a little bit who you not?”
Pete replied: “I wouldn’t say pressure, you just get carried away with the moment, you know. Yes, it’s quite electrifying. So I do end up doing things I’m not normally seen doing like pogoing.”
The worldwide DJ went on to reveal that he doesn’t watch any of his performances back, saying: “No, I don’t like to do that.”
Chris said: “No, it’s not advisable is it!”
Pete works for BBC Radio 1 and hosts programmes such as Essential Mix and Essential Selection, which started in January 1991.
He began his radio career in the late 1970s, and made his first appearance on Radio 1 in 1981.
His original musical interest was in drumming, but moved on to DJing when he played his first public gig at a friend’s wedding at age 15.
The Chris Evans Virgin Breakfast Show with Sky is on weekdays from 6.30am.
