Pep Guardiola gives Sergio Aguero injury update after substitution against Fulham

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola is hopeful that Sergio Aguero avoided injury against Fulham but says the striker will have to be assessed in the next 24 hours.

Aguero set-up Bernardo Silva to score City’s opener at Craven Cottage and then doubled his side lead on the half-hour mark.

However, Aguero was withdrawn in the 57th minute and he walked slowly off the field to be replaced by Gabriel Jesus.

City must tackle a hectic fixture list as they look to win an unprecedented quadruple and can ill-afford to lose Aguero in his current form.

Guardiola, though, says the Argentine made the right choice by deciding to leave the field and says he’s hopeful he hasn’t sustained a bigger injury.

‘Tomorrow we have the real assessment,’ said Guardiola.

‘He says he felt something but not injured. For precaution he decided not to continue, hopefully it’s nothing serious.’

City’s win means they’re back on top of the Premier League table ahead of rivals Liverpool, who face Tottenham at Anfield on Sunday.

Guardiola admits he will watch the game but says he’ll do so as his side face Spurs three times in the next month.
