Paul Scholes has criticised Freddie Ljungberg for not wearing a suit for Arsenal’s clash with Norwich City on Sunday.

Following Unai Emery’s sacking last week, Ljungberg was appointed as the Gunners’ interim manager until the club decide on a permanent replacement for the Spaniard.

But the former Arsenal midfielder could not get off to a winning start as his side were held to a 2-2 draw at Carrow Road.

Scholes, however, was less than impressed before kick-off as Ljungberg walked out for a quick pitch inspection in a blue shirt underneath a knitted grey jumper instead of wearing Arsenal’s traditional navy suit with the club’s crest embroidered on the blazer.

‘You would think he’d be out in a suit to show a bit of proudness that he took the job,’ Scholes told Premier League Productions.

‘To me that’s a great start… shirt and tie to show some discipline.

‘I don’t think he’ll be the right man.’

Arsenal were forced to come from behind on two occasions to earn a point against Norwich as Pierre-Emereick Aubameyang cancelled out goals from Teemu Pukki and Todd Cantwell.

And Scholes directed his criticism towards Shkodran Mustafi following Arsenal’s latest setback, which has left them seven points behind fourth-placed Chelsea.

‘It’s no surprise, I think he [Mustafi] was at fault, possibly, for both goals,’ said Scholes.

‘He doesn’t tackle, he should be having a nibble at the ball but he drops off so far because he’s so frightened of getting done.

‘He’s just thinking about getting back to his goal, not going out and engaging with the player.

‘He almost tries to get out of the way, instead of being a defender who’s desperate to stop the ball going in.

‘He just lets people walk through him.

‘David Luiz is not interested in defending, they [Norwich] cut through them almost at will.

‘I think Norwich will be disappointed [with a draw] not Arsenal.’
