Paul Pogba admits he was ‘gutted’ to watch his Manchester United team-mates fall to a narrow defeat at Bournemouth.

The Red Devils’ three-match winning run was ended by the Cherries on Saturday with former United trainee Josh King settling the affair with the winner shortly before half-time.

United were seventh in the Premier League ahead of the fixture but have now dropped back down to tenth with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side taking just 13 points from 11 matches.

Pogba has not featured for United since September and says he wants nothing more than to recover from injury and return to help his team-mates.

Speaking to RMC Sport – via FaceTime – following United’s defeat to Bournemouth, Pogba said: ‘I’m gutted.

‘To see the team lose without being able to play is the worst. I would like to be back to help them but the most important thing is to heal.’

French World Cup-winner Pogba is not expected to return from the treatment room before December.

Solskjaer, meanwhile, admits Manchester United’s defeat at Dean Court was a ‘step back’ for his team.

‘If you want to get into the top four you need to win games like this,’ he said. ‘It is a step back for us today, but we need to shake it off and go again.

‘You are always very down when you lose and considering the form we were in we were hoping to take the three points.

‘We could not capitalise on the good start and a moment of magic won the game for them, sometimes you just hold up your hands and say ‘well done’.

‘I thought Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial defended very well against them, but in games like this one it is so important to get the first goal and they [Bournemouth] did it.

‘We are disappointed but when you come to places like this you have to take control of the game.

‘We did not and we could not get the goal. We were missing some quality at times. Maybe I should have started some others.’

Manchester United face Partizan Belgrade in the Europa League on Thursday before hosting Brighton next weekend.
