Patrick Kielty, 48, joined The One Show’s Michelle Ackerly, 35, at the helm this evening as he stepped up to replace Matt Baker, 41.
Poking fun at himself, the comedian and presenter implied viewers would be disappointed with his presence in Matt’s absence.
Opening the show, he announced: “Hello and welcome to Monday’s One Show with Michelle Ackerly…”
“And, as Matt’s away in Germany covering the Gymnastics World Championships, keeping us company all this week is Patrick Kielty!” Michelle chimed in.
“There we go,” Patrick said, as the studio audience clapped loudly.
“Fake round of applause,” he quipped, begging jokily: “Please don’t switch off.”
Michelle laughed as he chuckled before moving on with the show.
The One Show airs weekdays at 7pm on BBC One.
