'Panicking Tories must get act together with coherent plan for holidays abroad'

With EU countries preparing to open for British tourists this summer, our Tory Government must get its act together and let us know where, when and how we’ll be allowed legally to holiday abroad.

The NHS vaccination programme is making travel possible but tourists need certainty and everybody deserves protection from the risk of mutant Covid strains being brought home.

We need a coherent plan and no return to the awful lurching of the recent past.

The Downing Street panic which is creating confusion when deaths are massively down is unacceptable.

Transport Secretary Grant Shapps is under an obligation to learn from previous mistakes to get it right this year.

Families wanting to fly or drive to the sun is understandable, as is the fears of others that Britons spreading out around the world might bring the virus to Britain on their return.

Safe holidays are possible. Let’s see that plan.

Pay up, Boris

Boris Johnson cannot legitimately claim to lead the country when a majority of the public believe nurses deserve a pay rise higher than his measly 1% offer after a year risking their lives fighting Covid.

Because the Conservative Prime Minister is once again shown to be out of step, imposing Tory austerity when decent people want to thank and reward those who looked after us.

Some 56% support an award above the insulting pennies the Tory Government has put on the table in England for NHS heroes, according to a poll for health unions.

It speaks for the moral majority while Johnson displays his mean, uncaring, contemptible political ideology.

That a Johnson deep in sleaze doesn’t get that is another reason he’s not fit to be PM.
