Outraged mum spots £5 vibrators on sale next to kids’ toys in Poundland

AN outraged mum has slammed Poundland for putting their £5 vibrator on the SAME shelf as children’s toys.

Horrified shopper Jana Bardsley-Smith, 52, spotted dozens of Poundland’s new Bonkin’ Bunny vibrators stacked in between slinkies and Finding Nemo towels in a store in Tolworth, South London.

The mum said the budget sex toys were positioned behind the checkouts but were definitely in “eye level” of children.

When Poundland launched their £5 vibrator back in January, the brand promised to keep the sex toys behind the counter and asked customers to use the password “Justin” at the counter if they wanted to buy one.

After taking photos of the vibrators sitting on a shelf along with children’s toys, the outraged mum-of-two said: “I was amused at first but then I realised I found it annoying.

“It’s not something you want to see at eye level when you’re out shopping.”

Luckily for Jana, her two children weren’t with her when she spotted the rows of sex toys.

She added: “There is a place and a time to be selling or buying things like that.

“There are a lot of families in the area. I wouldn’t want my child to ask what it is.”

Accusing Poundland of being “insensitive”, Jana concluded: “If they are going to sell things like that, they should be at the back of the store.”

However, Poundland insists that the South London store followed protocol by keeping the Bonkin Bunny behind the till and out of reach.

A spokesperson for Poundland told Fabulous Online that the vibrators are kept on an “age-restricted, multi-classed shelf” which customers need to be a certain age to buy.

Along with the children’s toys, the vibrators are also on the same shelf as vapes and Starburst-scented candles.
