Once In A Lifetime offer? Dumbarton FC ask David Byrne to buy a brick at their stadium

Do the right thing, Dave.

You could say it’s a ‘Once In A Lifetime’ offer – David Byrne has been asked by Dumbarton FC if he’ll buy a brick at the Scottish side’s new stadium.

The Talking Heads frontman was born in the Scottish town in 1952 and lived there for the first two years of his life before relocating to Canada.

Now, he’s been asked to help out by purchasing a brick engraved with his name to raise funds for the Scottish League One side’.  The £20 brick will take its place on a commemorative wall within the stadium’s home concourse.

“This is a ‘Once In A Lifetime’ opportunity for David to make his mark at his home team’s football club,” said a spokesperson for the Sons of the Rock. “Hopefully he will take it.”

Byrne is yet to respond, although he remains as busy as ever. Last year, the music icon released his live EP ‘The Best Live Show of All Time’ – named after a quote from NME’s Tom Connick.

In his review of Byrne’s ‘American Utopia’ tour, Connick concluded: “A brilliant end to a show like no other, it’s proof that David Byrne can do sombre numbers as well as he does celebratory ones, and that the ‘American Utopia’ tour may just be the best live show of all time.”
