Olly Murs: The Voice coach UK admits ‘I’ve not felt myself’ as he talks lockdown struggles

The Voice coach Olly Murs, 36, lives with his girlfriend Amelia Tank in Essex. In a recent interview, he admitted that despite his partner keeping him “smiling” during the pandemic, he has been struggling with the current lockdown. He revealed: “I’ve got to say that this lockdown has probably been the hardest one for me.

“I felt last year I kind of dealt with it okay. But this time around it’s been really really tough.

“I’ve had some really bad days and not felt myself at all – especially the last month, I’ve felt not myself.

“Not felt that energy or my mojo back. Amelia’s been the one that’s been picking me up. Normally I’m the one picking her up sometimes,” he added on This Morning.

The former X Factor star went on to say despite the tough time, he has vowed to “keep smiling and keep positive”.

He added he had new music coming, but didn’t feel mentally motivated about it during the current lockdown.

During his chat with hosts Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes, he also discussed the current series of The Voice.

For two years in a row, he has been the winning coach and vows to to make it a third.

To celebrate his second win last year, he uploaded a video of himself dancing naked on Instagram.

Taking to Twitter this evening, he thanked Sir Tom Jones for stealing his act Leah.

He wrote: “I’m so happy. Leah that was a hard decision but wow I’m super happy @RealSirTomJones stole ya, love ya TJ!!”

Olly went on to share a picture of himself with contestant Nathan Smoker.

He commented: “Two happy chappies right here!! Excited for the semi finals Nathan Smoker you lil legend! #TeamOlly.”

Last month, Olly revealed what he would like to change about the show next series.

This year on the show, new block buttons were introduced to the coaches.

The button allows each coach to stop one of their fellow mentors from adding a singer to their team – but all four of them can only use the button once.

Addressing the change he wrote: “So next year I’m thinking… pointless having the other coaches names on there chairs for the block button.(sic)

“We all know they will do it again next year!”

The Voice continues next Saturday at 8.30pm on ITV.
