Manchester United forward Anthony Martial bore the brunt of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s anger after Sunday’s 1-1 draw with Chelsea.

The Red Devils needed to win at Old Trafford to keep their top-four hopes alive and a revved-up United started well at the Theatre of Dreams, opening the scoring through Juan Mata.

However, David De Gea’s blunder allowed Marcos Alonso to equalise and United barely mustered a response in the second half as their top four hopes slipped away.

Martial was slated by United fans when a clip of him ‘warming up’ before the match was widely shared on social media and the Frenchman was left on the bench throughout the draw, with Solskjaer preferring outcast Alexis Sanchez to replace Juan Mata.

However, Solskjaer didn’t hold back after the game and singled out Martial in the dressing room afterwards, according to the Daily Mail.

The Norwegian lambasted Martial for his poor attitude and says his lack of effort was simply unacceptable.

The Frenchman has been struggling with a back injury for a number of weeks but some members of Solskjaer’s backroom staff believe Martial has simply rested on his laurels since singing a new five-year deal.

Jose Mourinho was desperate to sell Martial but the club refused to let him go.

Though undoubtedly talented, Martial’s attitude is now being questioned by the second consecutive manager at Old Trafford.

Nevertheless, Martial is one of the few players that is sure of his future at the club in the short-term with Solskjaer expected to wield the axe this summer.

Matteo Darmian, Marcos Rojo, Antonio Valencia, Juan Mata and Ander Herrera are all expected to leave, while there’s doubts over Paul Pogba, David De Gea, Alexis Sanchez and Romelu Lukaku.
