Ole Gunnar Solskjaer Confident Paul Pogba will Renew Contract at Manchester United

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is under immense pressure following the Red Devils poor run of poor form so far. They have placed themselves in the eighth position of the Premier League table and it is a shame considering the glory and world-class performances that Manchester United was renowned for.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s last hope seems to be in the form of Paul Pogba. ‘You need a certain kind of confidence and arrogance to play for Manchester United,’ Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said a few days ago. ‘Paul Pogba is all of those things.’

That is precisely why United are so desperate for Pogba to remain at Old Trafford. Remain beyond the next transfer window, the summer after and beyond. Sure, his performances can fluctuate but the club doesn’t currently own anyone else with the same quality of stardust.

Danny Murphy, ex Liverpool player, is also of the opinion that Paul Pogba is an irreplacable player: “His ability has always been unquestionable. He is technically superb, he’s strong, he’s quick, he can score a goal and he can see a pass”.

Although the French star made it clear his desire to leave Manchester United, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is confident Pogba is ‘going nowhere, he is working hard and is totally committed to Manchester United. He is one of our big characters, someone who will walk out on to any pitch and be full of confidence. That’s what I look for in a United player. You need a big personality to play for this club’.

Pogba has missed the last couple of United games through injury and may not recover in time to face West Ham on Sunday afternoon. Instead, he is set to return against Rochdale on Wednesday night after missing three games.

Pogba is also a popular candidate among Real Madrid, who continue to loom and Pogba’s comments over the summer did not help present a united front. Manchester United are keen to negotiate a new contract, something former manager Jose Mourinho felt the midfielder was always angling for following his and agent Mino Raiola’s persistent flirtations elsewhere.

And former United captain Gary Neville recently saying that the club should steer well clear of negotiating with his agent Mino Raiola. Manchester United legend Paul Scholes doesn’t believe losing Pogba would be a huge loss, suggesting his form is not good enough.

The wait until the transfer window in January must be agonizing for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and if Pogba is as crucial to the team as he says he is, negotiating a new contract should be their number one priority.
