Norwich vs Chelsea: Daniel Farke on why winless Blues are ‘even more dangerous’

Norwich manager Daniel Farke recognises Chelsea’s quality despite Frank Lampard‘s side’s slow start to the Premier League season.

Farke’s team welcome the Londoners to Carrow Road as part of a tough start to the Premier League season.

Liverpool have already beaten the Canaries, and while Norwich got off the mark with a win over Newcastle last weekend, Chelsea present another serious challenge to the newly promoted side, and Farke is not under-estimating them.

“Chelsea have been unlucky,” the German said. “They’ve got their season up and running with performances but just haven’t got the win yet.

“They are such a top-class side. They are perhaps even more dangerous because they are greedy to get their first win.

“You can interpret it in different ways. If I am honest I would have preferred they already had a win – they are highly motivated to get their season started.

“I don’t have to warn my players of anything, they know again in this game we are the underdogs and we have to perform at 100 per cent to get a result.”

Lampard’s Derby County bested Norwich in a seven-goal thriller at Carrow Road last season, the last time any team won at Norwich’s home.

“I like Frank’s style,” added Farke.

“He did a great job at Derby. Chelsea are in a transition because they want to implement a different style.

“It is a question of when they will be successful. They caused Leicester lots of problems last Sunday and Liverpool in the Super Cup.”

Swiss centre-back Timm Klose could be fit to return to the Norwich defence for the game, while regular partner Christoph Zimmerman may return for next week’s visit to West Ham.

Onel Hernandez will be out for three months following surgery on his knee.
