Nipsey Hussle shooting suspect caught by Los Angeles police

A man matching his description has been taken into custody

A suspect in the shooting of Nipsey Hussle has reportedly been caught by police, after being identified earlier today.

The 33-year-old rapper died on Sunday (March 31) after he was shot multiple times while outside his clothing store in South LA.

With the Los Angeles Police Department previously confirming that they were looking for suspect Eric Holder, they have now told CBS that he has been captured. The 29-year-old is said to have been found in Lakewood, CA.

TMZ also reports that an individual matching Holder’s description is now in custody, with police responding to make a positive ID.

This is a breaking story and will be updated.

The LAPD confirmed in a previous statement: “On March 31, 2019 around 3:20pm, three male adults were standing in front of a business in a strip mall in the 3400 block of West Slauson Blvd. The suspect walked up to the men and fired numerous shots at them. The victims were struck and fell to the ground. The suspect ran southbound through an adjacent alley to a waiting vehicle. The suspect entered the passenger side and fled the area… The vehicle was driven by an unidentified female.

“Two victims were transported to local hospitals and one refused medical treatment at the scene. One victim, Ermias Asghedom, known as Nipsey Hussle, died as a result of the gunshot wounds he sustained. Detectives have worked tirelessly and are now asking for the public’s help in locating the suspect in this case. The suspect has been identified as 29-year-old Eric Holder of Los Angeles.”

This update follows an outpouring of tributes to the late rapper from the likes of Rihanna, Bruno Mars, and Drake, who namechecked him during his show at The O2 last night.

It also emerged yesterday that Nipsey was due to meet with police on Monday to discuss ways to prevent gang violence in Los Angeles.
