Nintendo Switch games UPDATE: Another new Zelda game set for 2019 reveal?

fans could be getting two brand new Zelda games in 2019.

The first Nintendo Direct of the year revealed that a remake of Zelda Game Boy classic Link’s Awakening is coming to the Nintendo Switch this year.

This reimagining of the 90s hit boasts adorable new 2D claymation-like graphics that shines Koholint Island in a whole new light.

Fan reaction to the reveal of Link’s Awakening on Twitter has been euphoric, with the title arguably one of the Switch’s most anticipated 2019 games.

And the Link’s Awakening remake may not be the only new Zelda game coming to the Switch this year.

According to one leaker, another new 2D Zelda game will be arriving on the hit hybrid console this year.

As revealed in a post by Nintendo Insider, GameFAQ user Vergeben claims to have learnt about a new 2D Zelda game in development.

This is believed to be a “smaller” Nintendo eShop release compared to the Link’s Awakening release which is a “full project”.

It’s believed more details on the unannounced new Zelda game will be revealed in the coming months.

Vergeben previously leaked that Ridley, Simon Belmont, Ice Climbers, Incineroar and Ken would be coming to Super Smash Bros Ultimate.

But Vergeben – who also sparked the Star Fox Grand Prix rumour – missed the mark when they claimed it would be revealed in last month’s Nintendo Direct.

In other Switch news, it was recently revealed that VR will be coming to the hugely popular Nintendo console.

Nintendo Labo VR kits have been announced with a release date set for April 2019.

Fans will have two options when they hit shelves next month, the full set, including goggles and a full cardboard kits package, and a smaller starter pack.

The starter pack comes with goggles and the blaster/rifle Labo kit, with the additional kits available to buy individually.

A message from Nintendo reads: “With the new Nintendo Labo VR Kit, there’s more to Make, Play, and Discover together than ever before.

“Nintendo Labo Toy-Con 04: VR Kit is a unique first VR experience kids and families can build themselves!

“The Starter Set + Blaster kit provides an action-packed introduction to the experience.

“You can then add to the fun with the Expansion Sets. Or, if you want an even broader experience right away, you can purchase the full Nintendo Labo VR Kit, which features six VR Toy-Con projects in one package.”
