Ninja quits Twitch streaming for Mixer in time for Fortnite Season X

The announcement was made today through Ninja’s social media accounts, revealing that the big-time streamer would be leaving Twitch behind.

Confirming the news through a mock press conference video shared on Twitter, Ninja revealed the switch on the same day Fortnite Season X was released.

Ninja is a big-time Fortnite streamer who has no doubt helped boost both the game’s popularity and Twitch viewing numbers in the process.

Since the announcement was made, Ninja’s Twitch account has lost its verified status.

Mixer is a platform that is owned and controlled by Microsoft, while Twitch is part of the Amazon group.

“What began as a simple idea for how we could improve the streaming experience grew into a whole community of people coming together to make an impact on the world,” a message on the Mixer website reads.

“We started with the name Beam because we wanted to bring you the most cutting edge technology, and we did with our Faster Than Light latency.

“As Beam, we worked with our streamers to build an inclusive community and a pipeline that has changed the pace of the streaming spheres all around us. We’re proud of what we built together.”

And it sounds like Ninja will be more than just another streamer on Mixer, with the latest news suggesting he will be attending events to promote the platform.

Mixer’s growing brand is probably not in the same league as Twitch but recent data suggests it is on the upswing.

“Xbox Live now has 57 million monthly active users and Mixer usage growth is accelerating,” Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella revealed during a company earnings call in October.

“This loyal, high-value community is our strongest asset, creating expanding opportunity for monetization of first- and third-party games. Fortnite is a good example of that, and all up, we are seeing record software and services revenue and engagement being driven on our platform.”

According to the official Ninja Mixer page, Tyler Blevins will have a Daily Stream from – 9:30 AM CST to 6 PM CST, although times are subject to change.

Since the announcement was made earlier today, the new Ninja Mixer page has received over 120,000 views, without a livestream event.

This change will also have an impact on how Fortnite Season X runs for Epic Games.

Ninja is one of the top Fortnite streamers and it will certainly change the audience data seen on Twitch.

Season X has just begun for Fortnite fans and includes a number of new map changes, as well as a new Battle Pass.

“Time is twisted and the Zero Point has become volatile in Season X,” the official game description reads.

“Whether you’re nostalgic for the past or excited for the future, there will be plenty for you to discover all Season long. Locations once thought to be lost have begun to appear on the island, but they aren’t the same as they once were…

“Board the Battle Bus and drop in, but keep an eye to the skies to spot the new Season X mech vehicle, the B.R.U.T.E. Crashing on the island as the Battle Bus takes off, these merciless mechs seat two players and works best with a partner, so grab a squadmate, hop in, load up, and roll out.”
