Lembit Opik has hit back at Nigel Havers after he joked that he wanted ‘to kill’ him when the pair took part in I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!

The actor, 68, and the former politician, 54, were both in the tenth series of the reality show in 2010 where Nigel admitted Lembit often got on his last nerve.

Speaking on Good Morning Britain on Tuesday, Nigel admitted it would have been great TV if the pair had ever came to blows.

‘I was going to kill Lembit Opik,’ he told hosts Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid.

‘That would have been great TV,’ Piers said.

‘It would have been fantastic. Can you imagine?’ Nigel replied.

‘Why did he wind you up so much?’ Susanna asked.

‘There was no way out of it because you can’t read or write or watch the telly or listen to the radio, it was just Lembit Opik going on and on.’

He said: ‘Poor Nigel Havers: only celeb to walk out of jungle in my series. He fell in lake – blamed me. In car back to hotel – he blamed me.

‘Now he’s blaming me for his departure from camp! I apologise for it all: and for his appearance on BENIDORM in case he blames me for that too.’

Nigel was the first celebrity who left the jungle during that series, quitting the show after eight days.

Lembit was the second celebrity who was sent home by the public vote with former X Factor star and Loose Women host Stacey Solomon winning the series.
