Hollywood actor Nicolas Cage has claimed that he was ‘too drunk to understand’ when marrying his girlfriend Erika Koike, as details of the annulment have been revealed.
Cage has looked to get his four-day-old marriage made null and void after the 55-year-old received his marriage certificate on Saturday.
The Blast has obtained court documents relating to the annulment.
Cage has claimed that he and Koije were drunk and “lacked understanding of his actions in marrying [Koike] to the extent that he was incapable of agreeing to the marriage”.
Cage’s lawyers have expanded on the events that led to the actor marrying Koike.

They state in the court document: “Prior to obtaining a marriage license and participating in a marriage ceremony, [Cage] and [Koike] were both drinking to the point of intoxication.
“As a result of his intoxication, when [Koike] suggested to [Cage] that they should marry, [Cage] reacted on impulse and without the ability to recognize or understand the full impact of his actions.”
There is also the added ‘complication’ of Koike’s relationship with another man, which Cage has cited as another reason for the annulment to be granted.

The document claims Koike didn’t “disclose to [Cage] the full nature and extent of her relationship with another person”.
Though the document did not detail the nature of the ‘active proceedings’ but Cage has also claimed he didn’t know about Koike’s “criminal history” and that there were “additional active criminal proceedings”.
This is the fourth time Nicolas had tied the knot after marrying Patricia Arquette in 1995.

They split in 2001 and a year later, Cage married Lisa Marie Presley. Their marriage lasted just three months.
He had more success with third wife Alice Kim, who he married in 2004 and remained with until 2016.
They had a son, Kal-El, in 2005, while Nicolas also has a 28-year-old son, Weston, from a relationship with Christina Fulton.

In 1995, Cage won a Best Actor Academy Award for his role in the drama Leaving Las Vegas.
He starred as Hollywood screenwriter Ben Sanderson who loses everything because of his alcoholism and decides to drink himself to death in Vegas.
