Nickelodeon charges ahead with 'virtually produced' Kids' Choice Awards

While a number of major events have been canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic, Nickelodeon’s Kids’ Choice Awards is set to charge ahead Saturday night.

The hour-long ceremony, initially scheduled for March 22, will air at 8 p.m. EDT Saturday. It will be “virtually produced,” conducted via video conferencing to accommodate social distancing.

The ceremony is viewable by anyone with cable or satellite TV or a subscription to a TV streaming service that carries Nickelodeon.

Victoria Justice, star of Nickelodeon’s “Zoey 101” and “Victorious,” will serve as host.

Winners will be announced in about 30 categories, including voters’ favorite music artists, family TV show as well as movie and actresses and actors from TV and film.

Among the big names scheduled to appear remotely: Dwayne Johnson, Ariana Grande, Ellen DeGeneres, BTS, “Frozen” stars Kristen Bell and Josh Gad, Camila Cabello, Millie Bobby Brown, Shawn Mendes, Lil Nas X and a handful of “Avengers: Endgame” heroes.

Nickelodeon says the show will “reveal the winners through some of the most creative orange-blimp acceptances in KCA history,” and promises a segment in which pop star JoJo Siwa discovers slime secretly placed throughout her home.

The network also plans to donate $1 million to No Kid Hungry, an organization that fights childhood hunger.
